She wrote herself off
Scratched herself off of the list
And she wonders
Will she ever be missed?
Is the world moving
Just passing her by?
Or did she let it get away
When she sat down to cry?
She can't change the scratch
It's a permanent pen
If only she could learn how
To write her name down again
And she wonders
"Do I have to be just one
Of the millions of names?
Or can I start my own list
And write myself my own way?"
And she starts to realize
Something inside's fighting back
No matter how much she cries
She won't fade to black
